About the event

Join Jen Venegas, spiritual activist, grief worker and death doula, in partnership with the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center, for a monthly virtual grief circle dedicated to queer individuals. This safe and supportive space offers a chance to share experiences, find solace, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in times of loss. Whether you’re grieving a loved one, a relationship, or another significant change, our circle welcomes you to express your emotions freely and find comfort among peers.

All types of grief are welcome to be shared - the Sad Queers Grief Circles are not limited to traditional concepts of "death." Moreover, these are not  workshops to learn about grief and loss, nor are they meant to do anything more than create a container for grief and loss to be expressed in community. Your facilitator will not be in an educational role, but rather in a death doula role, honoring all expressions of grief without judgement or the urge to "fix" any attendees. Holding grief, of any type, for any amount of time, is not necessarily a problem, nor will it be pathologized in this space.

These are every 2nd Wednesdays of the month from 7:00-9:00pm PT online via Zoom. Anyone can join!

Scroll down to the bottom for the RSVP link.

What to Expect:

  • A group of people sharing about grief and loss on Zoom
  • Individual experiences being listened to and honored without judgement or advice given
  • Confidentiality around what is expressed within the grief circle

Honeybee alebrije designed by Laurent Corralez.

I acknowledge that the land on which I live and work is the traditional territory of the Tongva people, who have lived in and cared for this land for thousands of years. I honor their enduring connection to this land, their culture, and their contributions to our community. I recognize the ongoing impact of colonization and commit to supporting Indigenous sovereignty and the rights of all Indigenous peoples. As I move forward, I strive to foster a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the Tongva and to work towards reconciliation.
